Where's Eva?

It's been awhile since I have had a chance to blog. Here is one of the latest

things that Eva is doing. She has this green bucket that she received for a birthday party as a doggie bag that she LOVES to put on her head. She is actually getting really good at walking, I mean, waddling, along as she is blinded with her bucket. I have included proof that we do not put the bucket on her head, but instead that she chooses to put it on her own head. This girl makes me laugh!

Glencoe High School Boys Soccer: STATE CHAMPIONS

My baby brother Erik is a senior this year and they finished their soccer season undefeated and state champions!! Today was their big game and they won 2-1 in a real nail bitter, heart pounding and stressful game. We really get into it around here. They took out Bend (number one team in the state last year), Hilhi, Woodburn and many more teams along the way. We are all very excited and proud of him and his team.
Way to go Erik! We love you...

New Changes...

Our district is in the process of opening three new elementary schools this coming school year. Because of that, they have allowed teachers in the district to play a part in the planning committees for the new schools. They asked people interested to apply to be on the planning teams. So, I decided that I couldn't pass up the opportunity and applied to one of the new schools to be a team leader. This position is going to work in a small team with the new principal of the school making decisions about the new school. As far as my understanding, they will assist in hiring the entire school. And, if you are accepted you will automatically be working in the new school. Well, after interviewing and feeling really good about my interview I was able to get one of the team leader positions. What does this mean? It means, one, I am no longer going to be at Henry next year, and two, I will not be teaching in Spanish for the coming school year. I have mixed feelings about getting the position. I am really excited for what this is going to do to my resume. It isn't too often around here that you have the opportunity to open up a new school. I am excited about teaching in a place with brand new everything. I am excited to be working in a school that won't have brown water coming out of the pipes at school. But I am sad that I won't be teaching in Spanish. Not to mention the fact that Matthew will be applying to D.O./Med school this year and I don't really know if I will even get the chance to work at the new school. For now though, I will for sure be doing the planning for the new school and helping in putting it together and the rest I am going to put in Heavenly Father's hands.
What's a blog without a picture in my opinion.

The Untraditional Halloween for 2007

I don't know how many know this but I am in the process of getting my master's in administration. So, because of that I have classes every Wednesday night from 4 to about 8:30. Well, since this year Halloween fell on a Wednesday I had to miss Eva's first actual Halloween. However, because of that we made sure that the entire month of October was filled with Harvest /Halloween like activities so I wouldn't feel so left out on Halloween. Eva went trick or treating with her dad and abuelito this year. Matthew said she was scared by the whole process. In fact, Matthew had to hold her the entire time they knocked on a couple of my parent's neighbor's houses. But, what she did love was the candy. Matthew gave her a cherry sucker and she would not let that thing go. He said it had dog hair on it, was wiped on many couches and all over her face but she wouldn't let go of her sucker. We now have to hide any and all traces of candy we have in our house because she tells us that she wants it. She is getting smarter by the minute, but I will leave that for another post. These pictures are from a harvest festival that we went to at Portland Community College. It was fun and she was able to wear her little costume. The only thing that was scary was the attacking pigs! There was a petting zoo and the pig scared the bageebers(sp?) out of her.

Plugged Tear Duct Surgery

Well, today was the day that the doctor finally fixed Eva's plugged tear duct. It was one of the hardest things I have had to experience with her thus far. We all got up at about 5:45 this morning and left for the hospital at 6:00. She was admitted and brought to the back room where we put on the cutest little pj's. She had a lot of fun at first. Playing peek-a-boo with her dad and waving at all the people while in her little waiting room. She hated however, the bracelet they made her wear and strangers trying to touch her. Then, they brought in some drugs that were supposed to make her loopy but she didn't seem too loopy to me. We joked that she might need some more but they didn't give her anymore. They took her away from me and began the surgery. The doctor told me they had a hard time getting the IV into her little chubby hands and foot so her body has bruises from them poking her. The surgery went well. Luckily, the doctor only had to poke her and didn't have to put a tube in her eye. When she came out of the surgery she was not happy to say the least. They put all the patients in this same recovery room and I don't think Eva let other people recover too well. She was inconsolable and that was the worst. I felt sooo helpless. I was worried she would be that way all day because after they took off the IV and all the contraptions that were on her, it still didn't make her happier but got her one step closer to going home. We brought her home and after two naps she has her fun, loving, self again. We are so thankful to have Eva in our lives and are glad that we are done with this phase in her life.
The picture above doesn't show too much the extent of the surgery but shows her sour mood. Her eye was swollen after the surgery but now seems better. In case you are curious it is the left eye, when looking at the picture.
Oh, and excuse the quality of the picture. I had to send my camera back to Nikon so that they could fix my flash :( I am using my old camera. Did I mention I miss my Nikon?

The Pumpkin Patch Adventure

I know it has been a long time since I have blogged so I thought I would show you what I was able to do with Eva last Friday on my day off. We had fun, okay, well I had fun going to the pumpkin patch and spending time with other moms and their kids. I was so excited to finally be able to take Eva to pick out her first pumpkin. Well, the reality was she could have cared less about the pumpkins. All she wanted me to do was hold her because the ground was so bumpy she didn't feel comfortable walking on her own. In fact, I ended up picking out her little pumpkin for her. She wouldn't even touch them. As you can tell from the pictures, she really wanted me to stop taking pictures of her, but of course, I couldn't help it because the day was beautiful. Enjoy our pumpkin adventure. Maybe next year Eva will too.

Eva is Half Mexican not ALL pasty White

Matthew was changing Eva's diaper the other day and this is what happened on his watch. Eva has this thing where she has to fight us to change her diaper. So, we strategically place things in her hands to keep her busy. This time Matthew handed her the usual baby powder but apparently the container wasn't closed all the way. The poor thing got a huge amount of baby powder in her face and mouth and this here is documenting her curiosity.

Just because I like these...

Here are some pictures that I took that I really like. On the third one, no, Eva is not smoking.

Eva's "Night Night" Outfit

Eva is turning into quite the girly girl. The other night after her bath, she went into the bedroom and handed me the clothes that she wanted to wear. This was the nice little number that she picked out. She got this shirt from my mom.

It is such a big girl shirt and it is silky so that is probably why she likes it so much. I am not sure what we have left to expect from this girl!

Eva and Maple

This past weekend, Unlce Nathan and Aunt Shiara came over to visit us and they brought Maple, their poodle. Eva loved her. Here were some of the shots with the big dog. I think she especially enjoyed the fact that Maple didn't run away from her as much as River normally does. Fun times!

We're waiting...

You would think we don't take River and Eva out much because yesterday afternoon, Eva and River both got in Matthew's truck patiently waiting for a ride. Mind you Eva wasn't strapped in all the way and River was dying of heat, but they were both waiting until Daddy decided to drive them around the block. These kids are funny I tell you.

Weekend on the House Boat

We spent our last weekend before school started for Matthew and I at the house boat. Here are some pictures of the weekend. Eva loved being on the boat. In fact, that was one of the places I could count that she would be real happy in.

There was a fire near Black Butte so there were some really neat pictures of the landscape. However, since I am not a photographer you get what you get from me. Don't worry, I will keep practicing and next time I will get some good ones, I hope.

Brandon's pretty cute so I had to add him here also.

Eva put your feet down!

Here are all the tricks that Eva has been up to lately. We try to include her as part of the family now when she eats, but she keeps bringing up both her feet to the table. I know she gets these uncivilized characteristics from her daddy's side of the family :) So, here she is eating her pancake, showing you her tongue (one of her tricks), with her feet on the table. What are we going to do with her? Oh, and River, well, that is her new favorite spot. I can't get her away from Eva when she eats.

I'M WALKING!! well, sort of...

Eva started walking when she turned 13 months last week. She took her first real steps but has then slowly digressed. We can't figure out if she's lazy or just a wimp. It's pretty funny because she makes the funniest faces when she walks and at the very end shouts in triumph. Anyway, pretty soon we hope to have video up. We are having technical difficulties, but until then these pictures are pretty fun!

Eva and James

I can only hope that one day James will actually like Eva and not think that she is the most obnoxious creature. These pictures were taken last week during a little play date. Notice how Eva will not leave poor James alone. She moves from finger to the face, to finger to the ear, and then, oh yes, her big stinky foot on his leg. Just let the man eat his banana in peace, Eva!

Eva and her "Tent"

For the last two mornings Eva has been getting up early in the morning, Sunday at 6 and Monday at 7:30, when she normally sleeps in until 9:30 ish to get inside this tent we set up for her. I don't know what the fascination is but she will look for it and go underneath it. At first we thought it was cute but if this keeps up we might have to take it down. Okay, I don't think we would take it down, at least I wouldn't, but I can't speak for Matthew.

Pushing the buttons is fun mama...

Eva is learing so many things this week. She learned how to push all the buttons on the T.V. Fun for her but not so fun for us. Then, on Monday when we were at the grocery store I was feeding her snacks and she was able to sign for me food, and that she wanted more. She is just getting to be one smart cookie. She must take after her papa :)

Eva Writes

Eva has discovered how to write on paper. She likes to find pens and pencils and scribble on the paper. However, we are still trying to teach her how to not put the writing untensils in her mouth. Lead isn't bad for you is it??
