Okay, so I am not trying to publish evidence of child abuse but I thought I would show you guys what we mean by Eva being a little dare devil. She's gotten really good at slidding down the stairs at her abuelita's house, something she really mastered at her Grandma Carla's house. Well, the other day while Matthew was "watching" her, she managed to catch her leg on a step. She then proceeded to do some sort of twist in the air and fall about a foot from the step, face first onto the hard wood floor. OUCH! I know this is hard to believe but I swear nobody pushed her down the stairs. We felt so bad, she had the BIGGEST bump on her head. Then, to top it off she had her eighteen month appointment this last Monday and I was afraid they would report us to child protective services. Don't worry, they didn't. You might be interested to know though that she is in the 90-95th percentile for both her height and weight at a whoppen(sp?) 27 pounds, but her head you might ask? Only the 75th percentile. I wonder if all the falls to her head have any effect on this?

How sad! Yeah, things like that tend to happen under daddy's 'watch' at our house too (don't tell Steve I said that).

In the first pic I couldn't really see her ouchie, but man, that second pic shows it pretty well. The poor thing. I remember when Emma was just over a year and we were going grocery shopping. Emma was sporting this nice goose-egg on her forehead and a gash right above her eye. The clerk at the store said "Poor girl looks like she's learning how to walk." It made me so happy to know there are people in the world who understand the different stages these kids go through and don't just automatically assume child abuse. :) Of course, it's good to be cautious of some people's stories, but you know what I mean. Anyway, Eva still looks beautiful... big bump and all!
I can't believe how much our Eva's have in common. I wanted to frame a picture of my Eva and when I started searching through them I couldn't find a single one without a bruise on her forehead. Ben had to photo shop it out. Eva runs into walls, face plants into floors, knocks things over . . . but hey, she's cute. It must be the name.
I know I've worried so much over the stairs at mom's for that very reason - glad she's ok! Ya, you already know about my suspicions over what happens when mommy's away (see my blog in case you forgot!!!) Clara had fun looking at all the pictures of Eva just now - we miss you!
I love, love, luhuv that second picture of Ava! You need to send that in to some kind of baby photo contest (Regis and Kelly?), bump and all....we feel so bad about making you guys late for your dinner thingy. Thanks so much for all your help, Matt!
In the second picture Eva looks JUST like matthew when he's joking around, it makes me laugh everytime I see it
